Gordon Muirhead MBE
Gordon Muirhead had a long and distinguished career serving in the British Army for almost 30 years. He joined as a private soldier in 1981 and rose through the ranks to reach the rank of Major before leaving in 2009. He was recognised for his hard work and dedication during operations for operational planning and support and was made a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE).
Since joining the commercial world he has worked in Iraq and Africa as a manager within the security industry. Initially he spent 7 years in Iraq employed as an Operations Manager, Project Manager, Logistics Manger and Procurement Manager – during this period he was part of a small team that won and stood up a large maritime security contract in East Africa (Tanzania).
After a short career break he worked in West Africa (Sierra Leone) as the Deputy Project Manager supporting the Department for International Development (DFiD) on a countrywide Fleet Management Capability and Maintenance programme on behalf of the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health.
Gordon enjoys writing and is a published author and a keen skier.
He is married with two grown up children.
